Conrad Black Starts his Sentence

Disgraced media baron Conrad Black wakes up today behind the gates of a prison in central Florida to serve his first full day of a 6 1/2-year sentence for fraud and obstruction of justice.
He arrived at Coleman federal prison about noon yesterday in the back seat of a shiny, teal-coloured Cadillac Escalade.

The 63-year-old Black and wife Barbara Amiel sat side by side behind tinted windows in the back of the luxury vehicle as they glided past a horde of media about three hours after departing their Palm Beach mansion on the Atlantic coast. After driving through double rows of wire fence at the federal compound – located in a quiet town with just two traffic lights – Black's driver piloted the Escalade about 300 metres up the entrance roadway to a small brick gatehouse. Black was fingerprinted, photographed, strip-searched and a DNA sample was taken. He was required to trade in his travelling attire of a bright blue, collared shirt and cream-coloured slacks for prison khakis. He was then settled into his double-bunk dormitory cubicle, outfitted with socks and underwear and other prison wear, and assigned a roommate in a process that took about three hours. Black prepared for the move by holding a farewell bash last week for friends who flew in from around the world to say goodbye at his palatial waterfront estate. Black and Amiel have been living there since his convictions last fall. It is more secure than the minimum-security facility and holds drug traffickers and other convicts who are not considered high-risk inmates. "He won't get any special treatment here," said Charles Ratledge, executive assistant to the Coleman wardens. "He'll be treated just like everyone else." That means being put to work in the prison laundry or kitchen for wages that start at 12 cents an hour. Black will be among about 2,000 inmates at Coleman Low.

To me this is a very personal article and case, im a actually related to Conrad Black, he is my Grandma's brother, or cousin cant really rememeber. But this is also a very seriouse case, Conrad Black stole is investors money and im talking about millions or dollars, and he used it to spend time with his wife, go on vacations and buy expensive jewelery. The sentencing of 6 1/2 years is perfect, he deserves every minute of it, fraud and obstruction of justice is very serious. He costed people millions of dollars.
