Lacrosse Player Dies in 'Tragic Accident'

Jamieson Kuhlmann was fatally injured during a field lacrosse game in Newmarket late Monday afternoon. His Toronto Beaches team was playing against Newmarket when the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. It was about five minutes into the first quarter of the game. Kuhlmann, a left-hander, had just passed the ball up field when a Newmarket player hit him. The player's shoulder and head connected with Jamieson's shoulder and head. He never regained consciousness from the moment he left the field. Kuhlmann was transferred to a hospital in Newmarket, then to the Hospital for Sick Children. The decision was made to take him off life support wednesday. "It was a tragic accident." "They want the message to be clear that Jamieson died as the result of an accident. The boy that hit him, it wasn't his fault. They really believe it's an accident and there is nothing else than a tragedy."

In my opinion this is a very sad. I have been playing lacrosse for almost my whole life, and i have never come across an accident like this. This tragedy really hits me. It is always sad when a young man dies, especially while playing the game he loved. In the end it was a freak accident and there is no one that should be put to blame on this.

One year after killing of Jordan Manners, C.W. Jefferys has changed

Students and staff at C.W. Jefferys Collegiate will mark the one year anniversary of the killing of Jordan Manners on Friday. It was on May 23, 2007, that the 15-year-old was shot and killed in a hallway inside the school. 2 teens who were both 17 were charged in the killing. When the young boy died it shocked the city, people wondered about the safety of the schools in toronto.
Many students at the school say that the school has changed dramatically, kids feel alot safer and the environment has in general become alot better. Students say that the new principle and vice principle have made a different, other say the new security cameras have helped because students dont want to do anything bad cause it will be caught on video. Techers feel that there is more control in the school, kids are starting to care a little more when it comes to there school. Also the school atmosphere has changed, there are now leadership programs being made, and then school has made several new changes such as, new computers, new fitness centre, hall monitors and child and youth workers.

This is a wonderful article. It is very sad, that the young man died, but at the same time it made people change. This is a sad story on how the student died because of violence in schools. The school brought in a new principle and installed security camera's. This is key. Schools need to learn from this school, violence in schools in increasing and more and more deaths are happening. I feel that what this school did was a good idea. If this school believes that there new method in the school is working, than hopefully other schools in the Toronto area start to do the same.

Toronto board approves first black-focused grade school

Toronto District School Board trustees have given final approval to Toronto's first Africentric school, but not without another meeting filled with acrimony and charges of racism.
The issue is one of the most controversial ever put to the board. The school will open in September 2009, and will occupy unused space at Sheppard Public School, near Sheppard Avenue and Keele Street. It will serve students from junior kindergarten to Grade 5. Some As many as 40 per cent of black students don't graduate from Toronto high schools. Board chair John Campbell tried to smooth over some of the disagreements that were being brought up about racism and sexism, but finally said "enough is enough." In the end, the decision was approved by a vote of 13-8. The board did not approve a black-focused high school for 2010, but did vote to study the idea.

Wasn't racial segregation deemed illegal in Canada? I can understand that urban schools in downtown Toronto aren't working particularly well, but how can this be the solution? I would propose hiring more teachers in the schools that already do exist, to have a lower student/educator ratio, rather than dividing students based on race. To be honest I do not think that this solution will work. Don't spend money on something that is doomed to fail right from the start. I am all for making sure kids get a descent education, but this concept i dont think is what will resolve the problem.

Cyclist killed after bike hits car door

The death of a Toronto cyclist, who was killed yesterday after his bike hit a car door that was being opened, is the type of tragedy that is becoming all too familiar on the city's streets. Toronto police say that the 57-year-old man was heading east on his bicycle on Eglinton Ave. W. just west of Avenue Rd. yesterday afternoon around 1 p.m. when the driver of a parked Volvo started to get out of his car. The cyclist hit the door and flew off his bike before landing on the roadway, where he was struck a car. The man was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.
Charges will probably not be laid because this was only an accident.

This is just another accident that could have most likely been prevented if people were paying attention. You have to be aware that there are bikes on the road. You must look before you open your door onto the roadway. Also it is the cyclist responsability to pay attention. Be aware of the road users around you and act accordingly, it alot more diificult to pay attention when you're on a bike.

Train torn from tracks by tornado

A large tornado skipped through several northern Colorado towns yesterday, destroying dozens of homes, flipping tractor-trailers and an entire train of freight cars, and killing at least one person. The National Weather Service said the tornado touched down just before noon near Platteville, about 80 kilometres north of Denver. Over the next hour, it moved northward past several towns along a 56-kilometre track toward Wyoming. Nine people were hospitalized with various injuries at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. A frightened camper who tried to outrun the storm in an RV was killed. Many people have lost everything, there animals, campers and there homes.
"It passed right over us like a big, white monster," said Thomas Coupe, 87.
The tornado overturned 15 railroad cars and destroyed a lumber car on the Great Western Railway of Colorado. In Southern California, area residents flooded TV stations with pictures and video of funnel clouds and at least one tornado on the ground. The storm unleashed mudslides in wildfire-scarred canyons and dusted mountains and even low-lying communities with snow and hail.

This is just a Natural Accident due to most likely the weather conditions in Colorado. I cant really make an opinion on this, but I want to say whenever there is a tornado make sure you try and hide somewhere low to the ground in a ditch or something. Do not do what the one man did who went to hide in his RV, that was just stupid and now look what happened hes dead. So just make sure you know what to do in these types of situations.

Solar roof planned for Markham Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart Canada announced plans this morning to build the country's largest rooftop solar-energy system atop a new Supercentre planned for Markham later this year. Ontario's Ministry of Research and Innovation is contributing a $3-million forgivable loan to support the demonstration system, which will supply emission-free electricity and heat to the Wal-Mart store. Menova has created a "concentrated" solar-energy system that magnifies the sunlight by 1,000 times onto tiny solar cells, resulting in a dramatic reduction in costs and highly efficient electricity production. The heat from this intense focusing of sunlight is also captured, creating another source of emission-free energy that can replace fossil fuels typically used for space and hot-water heating. Menova is also capable of capturing the sunlight in fibre-optic cables and redirecting it inside a building. By bringing outside sunlight indoor, buildings can reduce their reliance during the day on conventional lighting and the electricity it requires.

This is what Canada has to see more of; using solar power to generate elctricity. It really helps out the environment and reduces Green House Gases that are being released into the air. I really think that other major businesses need to take note of this, people always want to live in a healthy and clean environment. This is just the first step to reaching there goal. Solar Heating has already been around, but now that we have Wal Mart who is a very well known coorpiration other people/businesses are going to catch on to this.

Peel officer approached girls

A Peel police officer who drove around asking young girls for directions for "no legitimate purpose" has been found guilty of discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act. Adult male strangers repeatedly driving through residential areas and approaching young females is potentially very serious. Charged more than two years ago, Yeo admitted he talked with "pretty" young girls, but said his actions were harmless. The 38-year-old officer, who has been suspended with pay since the charges were laid, and he said that he never stalked students and never asked them to get into his car. Boychuk found that while Yeo was off duty he watched and followed more than a dozen young girls, many Grade 7 students, between June and October 2005, near recreation centres, schools and shopping malls. He never thought that he was scaring the girls. In the first known incident, Yeo called out to three Grade 7 students from his vehicle in a church parking lot near St. Elizabeth Seaton Public School and asked directions to Erin Mills Town Centre. He asked the girls to "come closer" but they refused. In another incident, he followed a girl walking alone down a dead-end street near Inlake Court. An undercover officer who followed Yeo over a five-month period in 2005 testified that he saw the officer watching several young girls.

This is just creepy, first of all the cop is 38 years old, and he is stalked and watching young girls occasionally when they are at school. Just a little creepy. Secondly the man is a cop and it is his duty is to serve and protect. I don’t think your protecting anyone when your constantly stalked young girls and frequently asking them questions for no particular reason.

mother Killed Children, to save them

Justice Michael Brown rules whether or not Elango is criminally responsible for killing her daughters. Four psychiatrists who examined Elango agreed that she does suffer from a mental disorder but could still understand the nature of her acts. "At that time, I was only worried about their future, I didn't even see their present." "I picked up Renu. Got into the tub, too. She started crying. I was so upset with my life, with God, with everything. Told my daughter to go away. Nobody wants you in this world." After she drowned her daughters, Elango climbed into the bathtub with them, where she tried to end her own life by slashing her wrists and throat and drinking paint thinner and toilet bowl cleaner. The judge heard that she begged hospital staff to kill her and then asked nurses for her children's unwashed clothing, so that she could smell them.

I think that this brutal, and that there are certain people in this world who would actually do such a thing. She says that she wanted to save them, but i my position i think that she should have gone to get help. I really do hope that she gets sent away to jail for life. If she was not responsable enough to have the children than give them up for adoption is you cannot handle being a mother.

Parents of abandoned baby Angelica Leslie arrested

Toronto police have arrested a 30-year-old couple and charged them with abandoning their baby girl in a freezing parking lot in north Toronto in January. The parents of the little girl who has come to be known as Angelica Leslie — were arrested Wednesday night in Kitchener, west of Toronto. The couple was arrested last night, in Kitchener and 4 charges have been laid down. Police said the couple lived in North York in January at the time the baby was found in a parking garage stairwell when the temperature was –14 C. The couple moved to Kitchener in April. The girl was found face down on freezing concrete. It's believed she was on the ground for about two hours before being discovered by a passerby. Angelica Leslie, who is thought to be about 11 months old, is being cared for by a foster family. He said the couple are known to police, but do not have criminal records. The couple were scheduled to make their first court appearance on Thursday.

Sad Very sad. Why didn't they give it to CAS and let the poor little thing be adopted, instead of leaving her on the door step. Just wish people would have more thoughts when they have sex it is a big responsibliity and not to be taken lightly. The CAS should have never postponed the adoption hearing. The poor child deserves to be cared for in a loving home. If they actually do find the biological mother, why in the world would they give the baby back to her? She is obviously an unfit mother, and needs psychological help.

Mexican donkey jailed for assault

A donkey is doing time in southern Mexico for assault and battery. Police say the animal was locked up at a local jail that normally holds people for public drunkenness and other disturbances after it bit and kicked two men near a ranch in Chiapas state. Officers say that the donkey will remain in prison until the owner pays the mens medical bills which is estimated at about $420
The victims said the donkey bit Genaro Vazquez, 63, in the chest on Sunday and then kicked 52-year-old Andres Hernandez as he tried to come to the rescue, fracturing his ankle.
Police said it took a half-dozen men to control the enraged donkey.
"All of a sudden, the animal was on top of us like it was rabid," Hernandez said.
Chiapas police have thrown animals in the slammer before, including a bull that devoured corn crops and destroyed two wooden vending stands in March.

This is actually pretty funny, making a donkey serve jail time for bitting and kicked 2 men. I understand making the owner of the donkey pay for medical support, but making a donkey serve jail time is just stupid. What do they think is going to happen? Making a donkey serve jail time isnt going to make him change.

1 dead, 3 hurt in Markham crash

A teenage driver was killed and three passengers injured when their minivan smashed into utility poles, streetlights and fences in Markham last night. The Toyota minivan was travelling along 9th Line near Delmark Blvd. just before midnight when the driver apparently lost control. The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle despite wearing a seatbelt, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the passengers were taken to Sunnybrook hospital with life-threatening injuries and are now in stable condition. A fourth occupant was taken to Markham-Stouffville hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All four teens were about 17 years old. The crash came at the end of a deadly holiday weekend, which had already seen five fatal collisions on the province’s roads as of Sunday. During a weekend safety blitz, police laid 163 street racing charges, including one issued to a Barrie-area teen after a car was seen speeding at 239 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

This is just another fatality that has taken place over this long weekend. Wether or not there was alcohol involved in the crash, this weekend has seen alot of incidents like this, teens just sometimes get carried away when there friends are in the car, and they begin to speed and not pay attention to the road. I just think that teens and young adults have to be smart when it comes to driving.

Abduction, beating followed fender bender

Police are looking for four men and a woman after a man was beaten and abducted after leaving a nightclub at the lakefront on the weekend. A 28-year-old man said he and his friend were leaving the Guvernment nightclub in his friend's car near Richardson St. and Queens Quay E. around 1:30 a.m. Saturday when their car crashed into another vehicle. While it was just a scrape, harsh words between the two drivers eventually escalated into violence. The guy said that another vehicle pulled up and followed the friend's vehicle and cornered them and pulled them out of the vehicle and beat them. The friend managed to run free but the man was thrown into the suspects car and beaten some more. The suspects then drove him to Peel Region where he was eventually dumped at Highway 409 and Atwell Dr. near Pearson International airport, Brown said. The suspects demanded money in exchange for the man's freedom, and they said they were armed with weapons. The man only has a few scratches and bruises. The suspects are all believed to be in their mid to late 20s.

This is just weird, the suspects definetly had a little to much alcohol in there system or they were just stupid. The man probably did not mean to hit the suspects car, there was no need for violence in this case. But at 1:30am after being at a night club, obviously people are drunk or druged out and therefore they pull moves like this that can get them into serious trouble.

Lucky Women Survives Fall Onto Subway Track

Randy Isenberg had every reason to believe his wife Theresa was dead. "Most people who get hit by a train lose their legs, definitely most of them lose their lives". Isenberg's wife Theresa Kelly fell onto the subway tracks at Spadina station yesterday close to 1 p.m. She managed to roll off the tracks and into a small alcove under the platform moments before the train pulled in.
In an interview at St. Michael's Hospital yesterday, Isenberg said his wife "remembers rolling to get off the tracks," and then waking up with the train next to her. When Isenberg first saw his wife she was covered in blood, grime from the tracks, her hands, legs and arms were black. Kelly has a serious gash on her head, several broken ribs and a hip injury. The couple has 4 children between the ages of 18-25. Kelly says the she had tripped right before the train was coming and feel onto the tracks.

All i can say is wow, this lucky women is so lucky to be alive, imagine yourself falling onto tracks moments before the train was about to pull in, i would be so shocked i wouldnt even know to react. God was definetly with her during this time, to fall onto subway tracks right before the train comes and to live to tell the story is quite amazing.

Man defends having sex with girl, 10, he `married'

Daniel Cormier the leader of a fringe evangelical movement kept his so called marriage to a 10 year old hidden from her mother. Daniel says the marriage gave him the right to have sexual relations with the girl who was 10 years old when they "apparently" got married.
But as the girl's mother was cross-examined by Cormier, she denied ever being aware of a marriage. "My first knowledge of this so-called marriage was when court proceedings started," said the mother of the girl. Cormier, 57, stands accused of a variety of sex-related crimes, including sexual exploitation and sexual assault. He is also charged with sexually exploiting a different 16-year-old girl. He says that he did nothing illdegal with the 10 year old whos is now 18. As justification, he has cited their 1999 marriage in the church he founded. The mother has said she thought the ceremony was a birthday party for her daughter and even baked a cake for the occasion.

This is just a little creepy, in my opinion this man (Daniel Cormier) is sick. He was 49 at the time when he had this ceremony to "marry the 10 year old". Theres definetly something wrong with this guy, marrying a 10 year old who deosnt have a clue what is going on, just so that he can have sexual relations with the girl. If this guy gets away with any of this i wll be shocked, the man has already been charged for sexual crimes several times, and he his now 57, and this girl is 18, and didnt even know at the time that she was married to this guy.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Peel Region's latest murder.
Emergency crews called to a rooming house on Shallford Rd. in Malton found 43-year-old Keith Shortridge suffering from serious injuries Monday evening. He died in hospital a short time later. Several people present in the rooming house at the time of the altercation between Shortridge and his attacker were taken into custody for questioning, though no charges were laid.
Homicide investigators have since arrested Romeo Kanhai of Mississauga and charged him with second-degree murder. He was scheduled for a brief court appearance today, at which time he was expected to be remanded into custody.

Although they do not really know what caused this murder, it is still very serious. Killing another person is very severe, and disgusting. The government has to crack down on violence, there are so many more murders now a day. Not saying that the government can stop from murders but they can definetly cut down on gun violence.

Police Hunt Father in children's death

The sounds of the mom screaming. Just screaming and you knew," said Delorme, her voice breaking as she recalls the anguish she heard on a police scanner radio after the mother of three children discovered their bodies in the family's living room. Police are searching for Allan Schoenborn who is suspected that he murdered his 3 children. Their mother came home Sunday afternoon to find the bodies of Kaitlynne, 10, and her brothers Max, 7, and Cordon, 5, all dead, after leaving them in the care of their father. Schoenborn had been arrested three times in the past week: once for driving while prohibited, the second time for being intoxicated in a public place, and the third for an incident at the children's school three days before their deaths. Last May, Schoenborn was arrested in Vancouver on charges of sexual assault and uttering threats against a woman, according to court documents. The sexual assault charges against him were dropped last July when Schoenborn agreed to stay away from the woman he was accused of sexually assaulting and posted a $500 bond to keep the peace.

This is just absolutely disguting, its make me sick to my stomach reading about this. I dont no why the wife is still living with this sick guy, he has been arrested several times and obviously he has some mental problems. Not saying that it is the wifes fault. This man has no heart, to murder three of his young children who have a lot of life left in them is just disgusting. I hope they find this guy and kill him.

8 teens beat girl to make YouTube video

Eight Florida teenagers have been arrested on charges alleging they beat another teen so they could make a videotape to post on YouTube. Seven of them remain in juvenile detention while an eighth, a boy charged as an adult, has been released on bail. Police say Victoria Lindsay was attacked March 30 by six teenage girls when she arrived at a friend's home. A police arrest report says one of the girls struck the 16-year-old victim on the head several times and then slammed her head into a wall, knocking her unconscious. A clip of the video released by the Polk County sheriff's office shows the teens blocking a door and hitting Victoria. The intent of the beating was so that they could post it on youtube. The sheriff's office said that after the attack, three of the teens forced the victim into a vehicle and drove her to another location, where she was told she would be given a worse beating if she called the police. All 8 suspects were arrested April 2 and charged with battery and false imprisonment. The three teens who took Lindsay to the second location are also charged with felony kidnapping. Lindsay was treated for a concussion, damage to her left eye and left ear, and numerous bruises, police said.

This is propably the most brutal things that i have read in a while. Bringing a girl to her friends house and the beating the shit out of her, just so they can make a video on youtube. I really hope that if these 8 students get out of jail/juve. that someones pounds the crap out of them. What chance does Victoria have, its 8 vs. 1. And what did these people think that they were going to get away with this, IMAGINE.

Conrad Black Starts his Sentence

Disgraced media baron Conrad Black wakes up today behind the gates of a prison in central Florida to serve his first full day of a 6 1/2-year sentence for fraud and obstruction of justice.
He arrived at Coleman federal prison about noon yesterday in the back seat of a shiny, teal-coloured Cadillac Escalade.

The 63-year-old Black and wife Barbara Amiel sat side by side behind tinted windows in the back of the luxury vehicle as they glided past a horde of media about three hours after departing their Palm Beach mansion on the Atlantic coast. After driving through double rows of wire fence at the federal compound – located in a quiet town with just two traffic lights – Black's driver piloted the Escalade about 300 metres up the entrance roadway to a small brick gatehouse. Black was fingerprinted, photographed, strip-searched and a DNA sample was taken. He was required to trade in his travelling attire of a bright blue, collared shirt and cream-coloured slacks for prison khakis. He was then settled into his double-bunk dormitory cubicle, outfitted with socks and underwear and other prison wear, and assigned a roommate in a process that took about three hours. Black prepared for the move by holding a farewell bash last week for friends who flew in from around the world to say goodbye at his palatial waterfront estate. Black and Amiel have been living there since his convictions last fall. It is more secure than the minimum-security facility and holds drug traffickers and other convicts who are not considered high-risk inmates. "He won't get any special treatment here," said Charles Ratledge, executive assistant to the Coleman wardens. "He'll be treated just like everyone else." That means being put to work in the prison laundry or kitchen for wages that start at 12 cents an hour. Black will be among about 2,000 inmates at Coleman Low.

To me this is a very personal article and case, im a actually related to Conrad Black, he is my Grandma's brother, or cousin cant really rememeber. But this is also a very seriouse case, Conrad Black stole is investors money and im talking about millions or dollars, and he used it to spend time with his wife, go on vacations and buy expensive jewelery. The sentencing of 6 1/2 years is perfect, he deserves every minute of it, fraud and obstruction of justice is very serious. He costed people millions of dollars.

Young Teen, 16, Tries to Robb a Bank

A stakeout at an east-end bank ended dramatically yesterday when a lone youthful robber was wrestled to the ground as he walked out with a reported $150,000 stuffed in a backpack.
The 16-year-old suspect apparently had no idea as he methodically collected the cash that two Emergency Task Force teams with 20 officers, police dogs and an armoured vehicle were waiting outside. The 50 minutes it took him to collect his money gave the police plenty of time to get their ducks in order.
The teen bank robber was tackled as he left the bank by an off-duty officer who happened to be inside the bank during the robbery.
Police were called at 10:15 a.m. to the CIBC branch, located in a strip mall on Lawrence Ave. E. near Victoria Park Ave. Bank employees sounded the silent alarm after the robber walked into an office demanding money, claiming he had a gun. Crouching behind parked cars in the mall, the EFT teams kept a close eye on the bank, where some 20 customers remained inside.
They sprung into action shortly after 11 a.m., swarming the youth after he was pinned by the off-duty officer. The teen, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with robbery and forcible confinement. He was scheduled to appear in Toronto court today.

This is quite the funny article, a 16 year old kid, goes into a CIBC demanding money and claiming that he has a gun. Not to mention that it took him 50 minutes to gather up the money, like comeon did he not think that 50 minutes in waiting for the money, that someone wouldnt have contacted the police? This young kid is probably a little confused and trying to make a name for himself. Its funny because this kid is about the same age as me, and trying to rob a bank, i just cant picture it. Advice for the kid, if your ever going to rob a bank dont take over 20 minutes to get the money, and at least wait till your a little older.

Gay Jamaica Comes to Canada To Speak on Behalf of Homosexuals

A Jamaican police officer says he's living in fear after coming out as a gay man and hopes to come to Canada where he can safely speak up on behalf of other gay Jamaicans.
Michael Hayden, who has been on the police force for four years, said other officers routinely attacked and abused him after becoming suspicious of his sexual orientation.
But after speaking out publicly about the problem in The Jamaica Star newspaper this month, the 24-year-old Hayden said he began receiving death threats. "The situation for gays and lesbians in Jamaica is getting worse," Henry said in a telephone interview in Toronto, where he's now living. Henry said he feels for Hayden. "He's unsafe. They're hunting him daily. It's one of those very sad cases. For him coming out, he didn't want to be another person who died before he got to tell his story." Hayden is now on a leave of absence from his job and is in hiding while his allegations against his fellow officers are being investigated. Violence against men who have sex with men, ranging from verbal harassment to beatings, armed attacks, and murder, is pervasive in Jamaica, according to Schleifer's report for Human Rights Watch.

This is a very serious news article, i personally do not care that people are atrracted to other men(as long as there not attracted to me). But for this Jamaican Officer to come out and say that he is gay and then to recieve death threats and always has to keep a head on a swiffle is very serious. Its just plain disrespectful, last year an Officer beat Officer Hayden in a drugstore in Kingston, Jamaica, but the police force denied this. I just think that if someone is gay, you should just leave him be, people are born that way and they cannot help it.

2 men charged in Toronto's $15,000 dog-napping

A Toronto man who collected a hefty reward for returning a chocolate Labrador dog to its banker owner now faces multiple charges. Police arrested Richard Cassibo, 54, and Andrew Footit, 31, on Tuesday. Police arrested Richard Cassibo, 54, and Andrew Footit, 31, on Tuesday. Officers announced Wednesday that the pair faces a total of nine charges following the alleged theft of a dog in downtown Toronto on Saturday. Dog owner Bert Clark, a 36-year-old Toronto banker, offered a $15,000 reward for his beloved pet, Huckleberry, after a dog walker left the chocolate Lab tied up outside a bakery. Clark gave a $10,000 cheque to Richard Cassibo when he returned the dog. Although CanWest News Services said that Cassibo said he found the dog tied up on a park bench. Bert Clark also donated $5,000 to an animal hospital at Cassibo's request. Both Cassibo and Footit are charged with conspiracy, corruptly taking a reward, fraud and possession of property obtained by crime.
Cassibo is also charged with public mischief. Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

This is a very serious case, I think that what these to criminals did was just plan stupid. I hope that these to Guys get sentenced for a long time. They were charged with nine charges. $15,000 Dollars they got for "Returning the dog" is alot of money to most people, and when your lying about it to gain money, its just not write.

Time For the NHL to wheel and deal

Peter Forsberg announced toaday that he will not be returning to the NHL this season. With this being announced today this really brings the trade value up for Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin. Sundin, of course, says he won't waive his no-trade clause. But most in the industry expect Toronto interim general manager Cliff Fletcher to present one final trade option to No. 13 before next Tuesday's trade deadline as the temporary Leaf hockey boss tries to add draft picks and prospects to the team's depth chart. Brian Burke wsa one of those GMs yesterday suggesting deals for so-called "rentals" like Sundin or Atlanta's Marian Hossa aren't usually good business. Why acquire a guy like Sundin Hossa for no more than 3 months for Rental? In return youll be giving up probably 2 Young Prospects, and most likely 2 Top Draft Picks. In other cases some other GM's think acquiring a guy like Sundin or Hossa, would really be helpful, if you are a Stanley Cup condendor like Ottawa, Minnisota, Philidelphia and San Jose than sure youd be looking to pick up guys like these, to give you that extra push into the playoffs and a Stanley Cup Condendor.

I think that this is going to be a very exciting draft deadline. There are alot of Big Names out there, and therfore there are going to be many big deals going through come draft deadline.

5 students killed by Gunman at U of IIlnois

5 people died thursday afternoon as a heavily armed man entered a lecture Hall at Northern Illinois University. The University said that the Gunman who shot and killed himself was a graduate student in sociology who last enrolled in the spring of 2007. The man killed 4 women and a man in a brief rapid fire. In total there were 21 victims. The Gunman was armed with a shotgun and 2 handguns and opened fire in the lecture hall around 3pm. Students told the press that someone dressed in black came out from behind a screen at the front of the classroom and opened fire with a shotgun. People were crawling on eachother, and trampling eachother in attempt to get to the back of the hall.

To me this is just brutal, this is the 4th school shooting in the past week in the states. Gun violence is becoming a real issue and definetly has to be addressed. There has to be better security on school campuses. Schools arent becoming the safe and fun learning environment, but is becoming much more violence filled and dangerous.

Girls Body Found in Bridge Water

The discovery of a body outside Bridgewater has shocked residents reeling from the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl. Bridgewater police could not confirm if the body of the young girl is that of Karissa Boudreau, who dissapeared 2 weeks ago in a Parking Lot in Bridgewater. The body was discovered late Saturday morning, in LaHave River, not far from the parking lot where she was last seen. Karissa was last seen in the small Nova Scotia town 100 kilometres southwest of Halifax on Jan. 27. Karissa's mother said she got into a fight with her daughter in the Sobeys Parking Lot, when she returned from the store her daughter was missing. Two days later at a news conference, she made a public plea asking her daughter to return home or even make a phone call. An autopsy will be performed on wednesday.

To me this story is quite sad, but some things just dont make sense. The mother says that she got into an argument with her daughter, and then when she returns from the store her daughter is missing. To me i dont think that the mother had anything to do with it, but maybe they fought and the mother did something to the daughter, and told police that when she came back she was gone. Also why would you leave a 12 year old alone in a parking lot, there are a lot of sick people in the world and this is what happens. You cannot leave a child alone, when they become a little older, maturer and stronger than you can leave tham alone. I just hope that they find out whatever happening to this girl, and find however did this.

2 Girls Sentenced for Beating Senior

2 Teenage girls were sentenced Monday to 12 months in custody for beating a 66 year old women with metal legs from a table last summer in Halifax. Judge Says that the girls attacked the innocent Senior who was walking through the park. She says that the girls wore bandanas implementing that this was all premeditated. The 2 girls appeared in court, but sat quietly most of the time staring at the floor and listening to the judge hand out the consequences. The women suffered a broken rib and severe bruising. Williams said that one of the teens commited the act so that she could spend time in prison, because she felt save and she gets food and a bed to sleep in. The teenagers pleaded guilty to aggrevated assault and possesion of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

To me this is a very sad story, its just so crule these teenagers girls beating a 66 year old senior with a metal shaft. Obviously these girls are troubled and grew up in rough families, one girl said she commited the crime to go to jail and get food and a good bed to sleep in. I just dont get how they could do something so stupid, the 66 year old senior has no way of defending herself, there is 2 teens and they are much stronger and bigger.

Young Girl Found Frozen To Death

A three year old girl was found frozen to death Tuesday and her one-year-old sister was missing on the Yellow Quill First Nation east of Saskatoon. A man was picked up at about 5:30 am, and taking to emergency where he had frostbite and hypothermia. About 8 hours later, the man that taken to hospital reported that his daughters were missing. The First Child who is believed to be three years old was found frozen to death outside between his own residence and the residence that was 400 meters away from where the Ambulance picked up the man.

The Second girl who is one year old is still missing. The weather in Saskatoon was quite cold and with the wind chill, it was about -50 C. It was so cold that the Humaine Society was informing people not to let there pets out of the house and for a 3 year old and a 1 year old this is extremely dangerous. These events are believed to be far more serious than any other incident in the past.

For some reason this all doesnt make sense, why would the father of the daughter report that his daughters are missing eight hours later? I think that the father planned this, I believe that he wanted his children dead.

Was Man Slain for Wearing Wrong Colour?

Shawn Mclean the quiet 22 year old is the fourth murder victim of 2008. Mclean was found lying in the snow, with a bullet wound to his head, outside a Toronto Church. People are wondering if yesterdays shooting was a case of mistaken identity, Shawn was a a very quiet young man, he moved from Jamaica to Toronto six years ago, he did not have very many friends, and he was never involved in any gangs, he spend most of his time in his room listening to music. On the day of the shooting Shawn was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. Red is typically the colour associated with the Bloods, and Blue the colour associated with the Crips. He was not associated with either, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Mclean was very close with his family, and his family is devastated. He will be missed.

The police are questioning to men in a black toyota, who were spotted near Mclean prior to the shooting.

Man shot

Man shot, then dumped on the Street

An unidentified man is in critical condition in a Toronto Hospital after being shot and than dumped on a street in the City's Northwest Tuesday Night. The Victim was not carrying any identification but police are searching the neighbourhood hoping someone may have seen or heard something that would lead and help them in their investigation. Paramedics found the man North of Chalkfarm Dr. The man was bleeding from the neck and face. When the Paramedics found him he had no pulse, and they rushed him to the hospital where his injuries were found to be bullet wounds.

Gun Violence is becoming very serious, and I believe that it is up to the government to crack down on gun violence, so that more of these types of incidents do not happen.
